God Uses Ordinary People to do Extraordinary Things

God’s desire for us is to be people filled with His spirit, because He expects us to accomplish extraordinary things.  He uses humble, normal, weak people to do extraordinary things.

Paul claimed that I take pride in my weakness. Because it is when I am weak that the power of Christ rests on me.

What key characteristics should a person have to be used by God?

I did not always have the confidence and courage to do what we do. But it all starts with love, with knowing and experiencing His love for me. When I experience His love for me, I begin pouring my love back to Him.  It is out of that love that comes love for people. There is no limit to His love for people.

“God doesn’t make professional ministers. God makes lovers who want to be a voice for Him”.

I do not want to be a professional minister.  I want to be a child of God first and foremost, and I want to love him. This is more important than anything else.

I believe with all my heart, that God measures success by the first two commandments. God uses love to measure success.

How deeply do we love Him? How well do we love others?

God made it very simple. Growing in God’s love allows us to be used in unlimited ways. Because God loves people, He wants to change lives, and that is why the Holy Spirit comes upon us.

“and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”  Romans 5:5

So, as we become more filled with the Holy Spirit, His love is poured into our hearts.

Our hearts can be filled with His love, which comes from the Holy Spirit.

Terrible and heart-breaking things do happen. We have seen people, friends losing their lives for their faith. Jesus said these things happen when you’re being a witness and a light in this dark world.

Opposition will increase; this is expected to happen, as Jesus stated. Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

All of us will die and stand before Jesus. I don’t want to save my life because at some point, I will die and be with Jesus.  I’m not going to be afraid of dying. We do not need to be afraid.

Jesus said, “Do not fear man!”

The morning after a fellow worker was killed in the country we serve in,  as I was praying something started rising within my heart. Love!  More love and  boldness to speak more for Jesus! I found myself saying, while I’m praying in my room “If you hurt us (the church) we will love you more. If you try to silence us, we will preach more truth.”

We only have one life to live, so let us be filled with God’s Spirit so that we can have His love and have the courage to speak for Him.

That is the purpose of the Tongues of Fire, the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

  • To be able to love,  to love those who do not love us.
  • To be able to love those whom we do not like.
  • To be able to speak to those who may not like to hear our message.

TRUE LOVE WILL SPEAK.

The Word of Our Testimony

Satan wants to silence you and me. Satan wants to silence the church and that’s why this opposition is happening more and more in these last days. We are being restricted when we speak about Jesus. But we must obey God. The Holy Spirit gives us the courage to speak.

Satan has been always trying to silence the church, because when the truth is spoken, lives are changed and God is glorified. Satan did the same thing with the early church because they were preaching Jesus on the streets. Many disciples of Jesus were arrested or killed because the enemy did not want them to speak in the name of Jesus anymore.

What was their response?

As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:20

This is why we must continue to be in love with Jesus and be filled with His Spirit.

So we cannot help but speak in His name and like the disciples of the early church, rejoice in our suffering.

May the Lord give us the courage to continue to speak. The early church understood that holding back or remaining silent was not an option, even if it cost them their lives.

From the Book of Revelation we see that the real Church overcomes Satan by the blood of the Lamb that saves us, by speaking the word of our testimony

But they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”  Revelation 12:11

They loved not their lives even unto death.

This is the true church that will be in heaven. We want to be a part of that church. The church that loves not their lives even unto death. We only have one life, and it belongs to Jesus, our life does not belong to us.

God poured out His Spirit on the early church when they faced threats of more persecution.

When the early church was forbidden to speak in the name of Jesu with threats of persecution, they came together and prayed to God to give them boldness.

How did God respond to their prayers?

God poured out His Spirit!  The Bible shows us that they never stopped speaking.

We are all Jesus’ disciples. We all have a voice. Therefore, we can all reach people that others cannot. We do it by the help the Holy Spirit gives us and through our testimony.

This is why we need to be continually filled by the Holy Spirit.
